South Peninsula Haven House has been serving the people of the south Kenai Peninsula since 1981. Their mission: supporting and empowering people impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault and promoting healthy families.
Nearly 30 years ago, a group of caring individuals who valued a safe community began a grassroots effort to develop a community women's shelter. Three decades later, Haven House continues to provide the community with a shelter, as well as a number of other family oriented services. While we have grown tremendously over the years, our focus has remained the same: to protect and support victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. We have added a number of programs that support and promote healthy families, as we believe this to be a large part of prevention.
To continue to do the work we are dedicated to, we need the support of the community.
Annually we hold a fundraising auction, a time when we honor women in the community. This is our Women of Distinction event. An award, from community nominations, is given to a Woman of Distinction, with additional awards to an elder and a youth honoree.
From Ninilchik to Nanwalek, Haven House has improved the lives of families. Will help us raise the money to continue this important work?
