Starting on the floor and working our way to the vertical, this class will explore principles of modern dance like breath, suspension, weight, opposition, and spirals. Throughout, we will focus on finding a unique sense of mobility and openness in order to move in bigger and more interesting ways. Loosely based in technique, we'll work together to find distinct ways of moving and digesting phrase work that feel good in our own bodies. Come ready to move – we'll work the winter out of your bones and get your blood pumping!
Creative development time will take place directly after class. Studies will have the opportunity to be presented at Tiny Dances informal performance on February 22, 23 alongside MDC pieces.

This class will encourage a sense of fun and creative risk taking that will encompass full body phrase- work, movements in and out of the floor, and musicality. Warm up will aim to both condition the body as well as build class cohesion and collaboration. The aim is to improve your understanding and execution of dance technique, encourage your own exploration of the art form and emphasize the strengthening your personal movement style in a safe, non judgmental environment.
