Every spring HCOA raises money specifically toward the Youth Fine Arts Scholarship Fund with our annual Jubilee Season. The month of April is dedicated to showing the artwork of our youth, throughout the city of Homer in various venues. This year, Homer Council of the Arts will be showcasing an eclectic collection of art from Elementary through High School.
HCOA will also be the location for the All State High School Art Competition April 25th-May 3rd.
On April 23rd the annual Jubilee Recital will be held at the Mariner Theatre featuring the different talents of our local youth.
All revenue from the recital and donations will be put toward the HCOA Fine Arts Scholarship Fund for grades 6-11. These funds assist youth to participate in education and performance opportunities.
In order to receive scholarship money, the students must apply and write an essay explaining how they plan to use the money. They are interviewed, adjudicated and ranked. Awards are based on a sliding scale according to rank. Once their project is finished, the student writes a letter with a report of their experience.
